cultural heritage is significant in fostering a quality of life and a vital source of value and pride in all civilizations. Historic buildings and sites are often irreplaceable and hence face the risk of being forever lost as a result of a natural disaster. this exemplifies the need for these sites to be properly considered in risk management planning . however the high risk exposure of cultural heritage sites in earthquake -prone areas and the types of construction required to strengthen their foundations against such disasters represent key challenges faced by authorities . the historic sites of Qazvin are located in an active seismic zone and have been subjected to severe damage over the last decade caused by earthquake activity in the regiion. as a result there is a need to develop a retrotfitting management program in order to reduce and mitigate the possibility of further damage in the future.
